Self is a collection of beliefs about ourselves. How to ourselves depends on how
we build self-concept. Then what is the concept of the
self? self-concept is a belief in
ourselves or simply self-concept is an individual perspective or thinking to
himself that includes physical identity, ability, character, and attitudes held
by individuals to the principle that the individual possessed. This self-concept is a person's
personality-forming elements and determinants of individual attitudes in
behavior. For example, if the individual
is minded successful, then this will be an incentive for the individual to
success. However, if the individual is
already acting before thinking fails first, this is the same individual has
been preparing for failure.
Some factors affecting the formation and development of the concept of individual self, among others:
1. Age
During the formation of children's self-concept of individuals regarding it around himself and his family, the concept of individual adolescence is influenced by their peers and someone who became his idol. Whereas in adulthood the individual's self-concept is influenced by social status and employment, while the elderly during the individual's self-concept is influenced by the state of physical, mental and social as well as the changes that occur in the individual self.
2. Kinship
An individual who has a close relationship in the family will identify himself with someone close to him, and he will develop the same personality with the person.
3. Other
If the individual had to be accepted by others, respected and loved then it will tend to respect and accept him. Conversely, if it is not accepted by other people, other people always underestimate and tend to blame so he would not enjoy himself.

I think in developing and shaping the self-concept is not only influenced by the above factors. But is also influenced by perception, be it the perception others have of us, and our perception of ourselves. For example: when I aspire to be a professor, first I identify my father. Perception me, if I like him I would be able to share knowledge with others, so that useful knowledge I have.
