Well, in this occasion I will explain a little about the
life of cognition of all time. Inside are discussions as cognitive development
begin until the birth of the elderly. Speaking of cognitive development , Jean
Piaget's theory certainly talk which is one of the character theory of
cognitive development is already very famous we hear. In Piaget's theory, there
are four stages of cognitive development , including: sensory - motor, pre -
operational, concrete - operational, and formal operational .
According to Piaget, the level of thinking is the
simplest scheme , which some mental representation of action ( physical or
mental ) that can be performed on the object . For example , in newborn ,
sucking , grasping , and seeing a scheme that is used as a strategy to find out
the baby's cognitive world . The scheme was initially formed through
differentiation and innate reflex babies are born with some innate reflex . In
each stage of cognitive development , there is the subject of the scheme .
Stage 1 : Sensorimotor period ( from birth to age 2 years
) is characterized by progressive interkoordinasi phase of the scheme becomes
more complex and integrated . In this phase , the baby is not merely just
grasping or see it, but look at something and then hold it .
Stage 2 : Pra - operational period ( ages 2-7 years ) ,
child behavior change towards the use of the dependency action in the mental
representation of actions or what's called thinking . However , children in the
pra - operational stage have not developed a system of organization of his
thoughts . For example , when we are around them and they do not see us , they
do not think that we can see them .
Stage 3 : concrete operational period ( ages 7-11 years )
is the stage of completion and is characterized in the form of appropriate use
of logic . Been able to classify and connect specific objects .
Stage 4 : formal - operational period ( adolescence and
adulthood ) are marked with the child's ability to formulate hypotheses and
test them against reality . Has been able to make a decision on an issue .
Human life will always be developed in accordance with
the passage of time life . It is impossible to settle on a period but sometimes
an increase and a decrease in both physical and cognitive . Many criticisms
against Piaget 's theory , including why the Piaget's stages of cognitive
development between adolescence and adulthood phases into one period . Whereas
in some other theory states that cognitive adolescents and adults were not the
same .
W. Perry, one of the leaders of cognitive theory says
that teenagers dualistic thinking ( understanding what others only with right -
wrong , good - bad ) , while adults think relativism about understanding other
people's opinions .
Perhaps there are many more a criticism of Piaget's theory that we need to examine more
deeply to the next . This only can I write on this occasion .
